About the new Microsoft Project 2007 Certifications

With the introduction of the 2007 Project and Project Server product line, Microsoft now offers three new certifications for end users. These include a certification for people who use only the Project client application to manage projects, a certification for people who use Project and Project Server to manage enterprise projects and tests for some application administration knowledge, and a certification that includes deeper administrator knowledge.

In other words, the certification exam does not test for topics that relate to using Project Professional Edition with Project Server. Exam 70-633 TS: Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 – Targets the Microsoft Office Project 2007 Professional Edition enterprise super user and includes testing for the skills necessary for a Project Manager needs to properly use the system as some administrator topics. The exam does not test for all of the skills necessary to serve as a business application administrator in the enterprise environment. This certification exam tests for Project client skills that apply to stand-alone use as well as testing for an understanding of enterprise level skills using the client tool with Project Server to manage enterprise projects. Project Managers who are willing to take on the administrator knowledge want to certify their ability to manage projects in the Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 environment should select this certification.

Exam 70-634 MCITP: Enterprise Project Management with Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 – Enterprise users who serve as application administrators on the business side who wish to certify their deep knowledge in managing enterprise projects and programs as well as managing the Project Server environment should select this certification.
